I never really understood the train fetish + Grown up guys put a railway model in their basement and in the evenings watch Germany’s most beautiful railway stretches from the cockpit on public television + Hmmm + Something must have gone awry during childhood + No idea exactly what it is about this stuff that fascinates iLiKETRAiNS from Leeds, or whether they have a railway model in their rehearsal studio + But, apart from their name, nothing about them really reminds me of the German national train system + And that’s good + Because if I close my eyes now and listen to their 9-minute single “Spencer Perceval,” I think about various things + Though not about trains + It is rather my good old friend melancholy who drops in + Knocks gently on my skull, tells my skin to switch into goose-bumps-mode and the hairs on the back of my neck to stand up straight + And then I imagine I am seeing the band live, finally + At night + The projections, the sound, the voice, the intensity are overwhelming me + I am opening my eyes + I am at the Immergut Festival
